For Associates

Associate Backgrounds

Callidon selects new Associates from among the highest-performing students at top colleges and universities, either during their senior year or after 1-2 years of business experience. We actively recruit well-rounded students who have honed their analytical thinking, have developed strong quantitative skills, and have actively participated in extracurricular activities. Our Associates have diverse backgrounds, ranging from Economics to Art History majors and from varsity team captains to classically-trained musicians. Our Associates are smart, intellectually curious, and friendly individuals who enjoy working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

While at Callidon, Associates have the opportunity to work on a broad range of business problems across a variety of different industries. Typical day-to-day activities include conducting primary and secondary research, developing and executing qualitative and quantitative analyses, and interpreting and presenting findings to case teams and clients. One day might be spent building a financial model for a potential capital investment, while another might be spent interviewing an acquisition target’s customers. For a more detailed example, please see A Day in the Life of a Callidon Associate.

In addition to playing a critical role on case teams, Associates often choose to pursue projects that they feel will help make Callidon a great place to work, such as coordinating company outings, participating in the recruiting process for new Associates, arranging community service activities, or writing a new training module.

Career Development

Associates enjoy the benefits of a firm where all levels of the organization are committed to their professional development. This begins with a formal training program that focuses on developing analytical skills, such as reading and interpreting financial statements, assessing competitors, and statistical methods. But most of the learning comes after the training program, as Consultants and Partners form a close mentorship role with Associates. Our small case teams and open, non-hierarchical environment allow for regular direct interaction with senior staff and significant knowledge sharing.

Associate’s exposure to diverse casework and a range of strategic issues provides a broad array of new experiences, develops outstanding business thinking, and builds a strong knowledge base. A career at Callidon is an excellent way to prepare for business school – our Associates have an outstanding admission record at top MBA programs – or for nearly any job pursued after Callidon.
